Fishing is one of the best ways to spend your free time. If you are going fishing alone then it is a good way to connect with your inner self and if you are going with your friends then it is a great way to have some quality fun with them. But if throughout your fishing trip all you do is hold on to your fishing rod it can become rather tiresome. For this reason having fishing rod holders installed in your boat is a good option. In this way you can get some other work done while the fish takes the bait. Getting a fishing rod holder largely depends on the kind of boat you have and the type of boat T-Tops installed on it.
Freestanding Fishing Rod Holders
To do surf fishing you need a rod that is at least 10 to 12 feet long that has a durable spinning reel. Using these kinds of rods is very tiring but the advantage of surf fishing over fishing in shallow water is that you can throw in a bait and weight in the surf, the bait will keep moving in the tide alluring the fish. You can then leave your rod on support and wait till the fish takes a bite.
Due to the size of the rod you will need special equipment for the fishing rod holder. You can get a rod pod which is also useful when you need to keep your rod while you change the bait.
Tube Holders – Most Common Type
This is the most commonly used type and is attached on the deck. If you are opting for this type then you need to make sure the boat T-Tops that you are using will not get in the way of it. This type of holders has different kinds but the concept behind it is always the same. You can even make one yourself with some pipes. Professionals have built rod holders in which you can adjust the angles and have a mechanism for quick release of the rod.
Open Type Of Rod Holder
This type is the simplest type of fishing rod holders out there. It has a metal twisted core that is covered up with rubber held at an angle against which you can prop up your fishing rod. They are not as adjustable as tube holders but they are relatively cheaper. Their simple design makes it ineffective for deep sea fishing.
